🔗 Share this article UN:Me: An Psychological Thriller That Blends Silent Hill and Among Us Gameplay The recent Day of the Devs online presentation revealed a number of intriguing future games, but one especially has seized the imagination: UN:Me. Developed by Historia and Shueisha Games, this solo experience seems to fuse together the oppressive atmosphere of a Silent Hill game with the suspicion-driven core of Among Us. "This is a unique experience where a young woman harboring multiple human souls within her must escape from a labyrinth of the psyche," states producer Yasukazu Kawai. Stepping Into a Fractured Consciousness In UN:Me, players take control of an unnamed female protagonist seeming to be of teenage years. Within her reside four distinct souls, each with their own fears and motivations. These entities can seize control at will, releasing their deep-seated terrors upon her without warning. Based on showcased footage, much of the action unfolds within a creepy medical facility, while additional clips show the main character navigating a abandoned chapel. An Environment of Personal Dread "What makes you fearful of? What makes you uneasy?" asks creative lead Shun Sasaki. "Heights. Small rooms. People in power. Elements that appear minor to other people can activate something primal within us. This game delves into that concept — anxieties that are specific to each person." The central gameplay loop revolves around controlling whichever soul surfaces at a particular moment. However, these identities will change involuntarily as you play. During exploration, every persona's anxieties become exaggerated and assault the girl in succession. When the soul shifts, so does the particular terror the player experiences. Eerie Visuals and a Deadly Choice Initially, UN:Me shares noticeable visual similarities with the Silent Hill franchise. The hospital is populated by orderlies who all share the same face, with disturbingly broad smiles. Patients in the lobby have large blooms growing from their heads are. Flowers are a recurring theme, contrasting natural beauty with unnatural horror. Yet, UN:Me introduces a unique mechanic. Players must determine which of the four entities inhabiting the protagonist is the "real" one. "All four souls asserts that the physical form is rightfully them," notes a creator. "Throughout the game, you need to figure out who is real." Once players have deduced a soul is an impostor, they are forced to destroy it. However, because each soul can deceive or hide the reality, it is very easy to make a mistake. "Perhaps you've already destroyed the real [soul] by your own actions," the narration states. "The final entity standing might be a fake. In any case, your choices are irreversible." UN:Me does not yet have a confirmed launch window, but it is can be wishlist on platforms.
