Ukraine has announced the start of large-scale manufacturing for an innovative domestically developed defensive UAV to enhance its aerial protection systems. Three initial producers have begun manufacturing, with an additional eleven preparing to set up assembly lines, the defence ministry announced on Friday.

'Octopus' Technology Tested in Combat Situations

These UAVs will be based on a domestically developed system called “Octopus” designed to intercept Shahed drones. This technology underwent testing in actual battle and demonstrated successful “during nighttime, under jamming and at low altitudes,” the ministry confirmed. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has set an ambitious goal of producing up to 1,000 defensive drones each day.

The Ukrainian leader will visit the Spanish capital, Madrid, on Tuesday to meet with parliament members following his visit to Paris, Spanish parliamentary officials disclosed. The Ukrainian president will convene with representatives from all houses of the legislature throughout his stay, the Spanish statement confirmed.
