In the final seconds, pure elation erupted for Chelsea and caretaker boss Calum McFarlane as Enzo Fernández forced home a dramatic equaliser. The goal left Pep Guardiola howling at the heavens and handed the temporary Chelsea manager a career-defining moment. On paper, Guardiola versus McFarlane represented the Premier League's greatest managerial mismatch, making the recollection of Fernández's crucial intervention one to cherish the 40-year-old in his dotage.

A Stark Contrast in Pedigree

On the City bench was the most decorated manager of his time, a man with four decades of silverware for elite clubs Barcelona, Bayern Munich, and Manchester City, taking charge of his 1,012th match. In the visitors' dugout, stood a former coach at non-league sides Croydon and Whyteleafe, who had worked in City's own academy and stepped up to make his senior managerial bow after being temporarily promoted from his regular role overseeing Chelsea's youth teams.
