Slot Asserts He Is Secure and Has The Club's Support After PSV Humiliation

The Liverpool head coach admitted that it's expected for doubts to be raised about his future after another heavy defeat versus the Dutch champions.

The Reds suffered their 9th loss in 12 games, representing the team's worst streak after being relegated in the 1953-54 season.

They were dominated by the Eredivisie title holders on a difficult evening at their home ground.

“I'm confident, things are alright, I've received significant backing from above,” the coach stated.

“It's important to change things and get a victory obviously but if you are working as a coach and not doing well then it's expected that doubts arise.”

He noted, “I'm comfortable with my situation. This isn't the first time I've found myself in a tough spot but it's crucial that we turned it around.”

Conversations with Liverpool Hierarchy

When asked to elaborate on his dialogues with the team officials, Slot explained:

“We talk a lot. They assist for the squad and for me and we have those conversations but they aren't calling me constantly of the day to say they have faith in me.”

He mentioned, “During our regular discussions I sense the trust. However I've not talked to them since this defeat yet so we'll see.”

Familiar Issues and Player Response

The manager lamented recurring failings from his squad in their European defeat, specifically wasted chances and conceding too easily.

Meanwhile, midfielder Curtis Jones was more forthright in his evaluation of the current crisis.

“I don’t have the solutions. Truthfully, I don’t. I'm telling that to everyone,” Jones remarked.

“It's simply not good enough. I don’t even need to wait to consider it. I'm beyond feeling anger internally. I’m at the point now where I just don’t have the vocabulary.”

He went on, “It’s hard because I’m playing for the side I follow. I’m a fan, and I've watched Liverpool since I was young.”

“For many years, I've not seen a Liverpool team enduring a spell like this with results like these.”

He finished, “But we still have the crest on our chest. And until that badge is taken away, we'll continue to compete.”

“We’re going to try to help the side return to where it needs to be, demonstrate to all again what Liverpool stands for and why it's known as the best team in the planet.”

“At this moment, we're in trouble and it must improve.”
